This Privacy Policy explains what information EcoForeman ("we", "us") collects when you visit ecoforeman.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. EcoForeman is operated by M Bilal Naeem, who is responsible for your personal data. You can reach us at info@ecoforeman.com.

1. Information we collect

Numbers you enter into calculators

Calculations run to show you a result. We do not save the values you enter or link them to you.

Information you give us

  • Newsletter: your email address, when you subscribe.
  • Contact form: your name, email address and message.
  • Accounts (optional): if you create an account to comment on or like guides, your name, email address, password (stored encrypted) and the comments you post.

Information collected automatically

  • Log and security data: your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, used to keep the Site running and to block abuse.
  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are viewed, approximate location (country or city), device type and how long visits last. We may also use Microsoft Clarity to see, in aggregate, how visitors use the calculators.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see section 4.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide the calculators, guides and newsletter you ask for.
  • To reply to messages and correction reports.
  • To measure and improve the Site.
  • To show advertising that keeps the Site free (see section 5).
  • To protect the Site against fraud, spam and attacks.

Where the law of the UK or European Economic Area applies, we rely on your consent (for analytics and advertising cookies and the newsletter), our legitimate interests (keeping the Site secure and working) and contract (providing an account you asked for).

3. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Site, under their own privacy terms:

  • our web host, which stores the Site and its database;
  • Google (Analytics and AdSense);
  • Microsoft (Clarity), if enabled;
  • our email newsletter provider, if you subscribe;
  • affiliate networks, which learn that a visit came from our Site when you click a partner link.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use:

  • Essential cookies that keep you signed in, protect forms against forgery and remember your cookie choice.
  • Preference storage in your browser that remembers your light or dark theme and language.
  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics (and Microsoft Clarity, if enabled).
  • Advertising cookies from Google and its partners (see section 5).
  • Affiliate cookies set by a retailer or network when you click a partner link, so a purchase can be credited to us.

Visitors in the UK, EEA and Switzerland are asked for consent before analytics and advertising cookies are used, and can change that choice at any time from the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. Until you choose, analytics and advertising cookies stay off for visitors in those regions. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this Site and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU and UK).

6. How long we keep information

  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact messages: up to 2 years.
  • Accounts and comments: until you ask us to delete them.
  • Security logs: up to 90 days.
  • Analytics data: as set in Google Analytics (14 months).

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the UK or EU GDPR or California law), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email info@ecoforeman.com and we will reply within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

California residents: we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising outside the advertising described in section 5, which you can opt out of using the links there.

8. Children

The Site is meant for adults planning home improvements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK).

9. Security

The Site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored encrypted, and access to our systems is limited. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

Our service providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, they use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update the date at the top of this page when the policy changes, and highlight significant changes on the Site.
